Rally Sweden is starting this Wednesday. It is the only full snow rally of the season, and VW decided to come prepared: A Touareg with tracks instead of wheels. Bonus points for the transferred Polo R livery. Maybe we Germans do have a sense of humour?
Now all I want to see is a race between this and Mr. Block's Raptor.

I wonder if they had to make any modifications to the AWD system for this? I think the normal Taureg has a reactive type system which engages the rear wheels.

My guess would be a simple software tweak that makes it a true 4x4 and not a FWD with situational engaged rear wheels . It might not work perfectly and long term reliability might be suffering, but it certainly is good enough for a PR effective drive around snowy Sweden.

It's all about the tracks, who cares what vehicle they're on? It's gonna look awesome. I'd like to see some on a Scout 80/800....
